CUSTOM APPAREL CATEGORIES

Streetwear Manufacturing Categories

Find the garment types your collection needs. Open a category to compare styles, fabric and fit considerations, then review the product specifications for your manufacturing brief.

BUILDING A COHERENT COLLECTION

Match the Garment Category
to Its Intended Use

Begin with how your customer will wear the garment. A T-shirt worn on its own needs a different brief from a tank used for layering. A sweatshirt may need room over another top, while pants and shorts need waist, rise and movement details as well as the overall silhouette.

Each category opens into more specific garment styles. Compare those styles before choosing a product reference. The category guide explains the fabric, fit and construction questions that belong in that type of garment's production brief.

Tops: neckline, shoulder and body proportion

For T-shirts, tank tops and polos, define the body width and length first. Then record the shoulder position, sleeve or armhole shape and neckline finish. If you are comparing boxy and oversized styles, explain which proportions matter to your design; those descriptions alone do not set the measurements.

Layers: construction inside and out

Hoodies, sweatshirts and jackets need decisions about the inside finish, openings, cuffs and hems. For zip styles, include the fastening and pocket requirements. Consider the garments they will be worn over when preparing the chest, shoulder and sleeve measurements.

Bottoms: fit through the waist and leg

For pants and shorts, describe the waistband, closure, rise, inseam and leg opening. Add pocket dimensions and placement rather than describing a garment only as cargo, relaxed or wide leg. Check sitting and walking movement when reviewing the development sample.

Keep related products consistent

A matching hoodie and pair of shorts can share a color reference and branding details, but each still needs a separate fit and measurement sheet. Identify which details should match across the collection and which are specific to one garment.

For original silhouettes and measurements, read about custom cut and sew manufacturing. Plan sample development to review the fit and finish before confirming your bulk order, or compare all product styles in one catalog.
